Pause and reactivate monitors
Temporarily stop monitor checks during planned work, testing, or service retirement review, then reactivate the same monitor when checks should resume. The guide follows the same monitor workflow used in the dashboard, so you can create, pause, remove, and troubleshoot monitors with confidence.
When to pause a monitor
Pausing is useful when downtime is intentional and you do not want the monitor to keep checking or alerting. The monitor stays in your account with its saved configuration, so you can reactivate it later instead of recreating the setup.
- Planned maintenance windows.
- Temporary endpoint migrations.
- Testing that would intentionally break the monitored response.
- Services that may return but should not alert right now.
Pause a monitor
- 1.
Open Monitors
Find the monitor in the Monitors list.
- 2.
Open the row menu
Select Pause from the monitor actions. You can also open the monitor detail page and use Pause there.
- 3.
Confirm the action
Choose Yes in the confirmation dialog.
- 4.
Review the paused state
Confirm the monitor no longer runs active checks until it is reactivated.
Reactivate a monitor
- 1.
Open the paused monitor
Find the monitor in the list or open its detail page.
- 2.
Choose Reactive
Select Reactive from the same action area used for Pause.
- 3.
Confirm
Choose Yes to resume checks using the saved monitor configuration.
- 4.
Watch the next check
Review the monitor status after the next scheduled check runs.
Paused time affects reliability calculations
SLA and report calculations account for pause activity, so pause monitors during intentional downtime instead of letting planned work look like an outage.
