Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about checks, incidents, alerts, teams, and public status pages. Use it when you need a quick, straightforward explanation before digging into a specific monitor, incident, integration, or status-page setting.
Why is a website marked down?
The response did not satisfy the monitor configuration, or the request failed before a valid response arrived.
- Check the incident response code and timing.
- Confirm the HTTP method and expected code.
- Review authentication, headers, timeout, and SSL settings.
Why did I not receive an alert?
Incident alerts require an active integration and an enabled alert destination on the monitor. Recovery notifications also depend on how the monitor and integration are configured.
- Confirm the integration is connected and the selected channel, number, or webhook is correct.
- Verify the monitor’s alert settings include the destination you expect.
- Send a test alert from the integration settings to confirm delivery.
Test the route
Review alert history and send a test alert before waiting for another incident.
Teams and status pages
- Create a team before inviting or assigning members.
- A public status page needs a unique subdomain and displayed services.
- Use maintenance for planned work and status updates for incident communication.
