Incident management

Incident grouping and team assignment

Assign team members to incidents so ownership is visible and response work is grouped around the right people. It explains how incidents are created, assigned, discussed, updated, and closed so responders can keep the timeline clear from detection through recovery.

How assignment works

Incidents are grouped operationally by their linked service, filters, trigger type, mode, and assigned responders. Assignment keeps the incident visible to the team members responsible for investigation and follow-up.

  • Automatic downtime and SSL incidents assign the monitor owner by default.
  • Manual incidents can be assigned to selected team members during creation.
  • Incident detail pages can update assignees with Assign To Team Member.
  • The incident list can filter by Assigned To, Incident By, Website, Status, Severity, Trigger Type, Mode, and Detected At.

Assign team members

  1. 1.

    Open the incident

Go to the incident detail page.

  2. 2.

    Choose Assign To Team Member

    Open the assignment selector.

  3. 3.

    Select responders

Choose members from the available teams. If a team has no members, invite members first.

  4. 4.

    Submit

Save the assignment and confirm the Assigned Users panel updates.

Group incident work

  • Filter by service when reviewing all incidents for one monitor.
  • Filter by assignee during handoff or on-call review.
  • Filter by status to separate active work from resolved and closed history.
  • Filter by trigger type to review downtime incidents separately from SSL incidents.
  • Use teams to keep ownership clear before incidents happen.

Create teams before incidents

Create ownership-based teams, such as Operations or API Team, so manual and automatic incidents can be assigned quickly.
